The American Dream? Me?
Yes. If you believe you can achieve prosperity and success based your ability and effort regardless of the circumstances of your birth or position, then you believe in the American Dream. Our Founding Fathers embodied this dream. Thomas Jefferson included it in the Declaration of Independence when he wrote that, "all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” And, James Truslow Adams, noted scholar and historian, gave it a name and defined it in 1931.
